Internship

I Got Heart is seeking interns to assist with marketing, outreach, and development operations.

I Got Heart is a 501 c 3 volunteer-based organization based in the Greater DC Area. Our mission is to help youth reach their potential and make a positive impact by addressing issues in their communities. We do this through workshops and grants to youth called Heart Awards, which fund youth-led service projects. We seek to provide youth with resources, amplify their stories, and share good deeds from communities all over the world.

We are looking for people who are passionate about leveraging your skills to engage youth, stakeholders, and our public towards the mission of youth empowerment. While we have campaigns planned, we are open to innovation and new strategies.  Ideally, you are hungry to learn and craft new ideas, and able to work in a self-directed manner. This is an ideal position for an undergraduate student looking to get real-world experience in a dynamic and virtual work environment.

Responsibilities will vary based on your skills, but may include:

  • Developing a marketing strategy to multiple stakeholders
  • Engaging with social media community to build relationships
  • Management of WordPress website including content updates, design, and plug-ins
  • Expanding awareness and assisting coordination of youth logging program
  • Identifying and exploring partnerships with other organizations
  • Analyzing website and social media data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Brainstorming and assisting fundraising efforts
  • Regular check-ins and working meetings with team and supervisor

Qualifications, depending on the position, may include:

  • Interest or track of study in Marketing/PR/Communications
  • Interest in youth development and empowerment
  • Social media experience and skills
  • Ability to commit to 5+ hours a week for at least one semester
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently when needed

Benefits include a flexible and largely remote schedule, experience applying marketing and social media tools at a rapid pace, blogging opportunities, and a chance to build relationships with a diverse range of professionals and organizations.  You can also receive validation for any credit requirements that this may meet with your program of study. While this is an unpaid internship, you will be reimbursed for any travel and/or work-related expenses.

The application deadline is Tuesday, January 20th for the Spring semester. In addition to the application form above, please send a resume to kushaan@heartawards.org with the title “IGH Internship Resume”. Please direct any questions you may have to info@heartawards.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!
